What's Easter Evangelist?

Easter Evangelists commit to:

1. Invite someone to Mass on Easter Sunday (or Saturday)
2. Share why Easter is important to them.

The purpose of the Easter Evangelist campaign is to gather a dedicated community of disciples throughout the world in a common goal to share the good news of the Resurrection.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who should I invite?

First, pray about it. Ask God to lead you to the person who needs that invitation the most.

Invite your friends, coworkers, and acquaintances. Invite family members who haven’t been to church in a while. Invite people who you know are in need of healing but don’t know where to get it.

  • Is this going to make a difference in someone's life?

You won’t know for sure unless you try. Maybe they will say no. Maybe they will come, but be unable to see the grace before them. Nevertheless, Easter is an opportunity to share the healing power of Christ’s Resurrection. You are sowing seeds. These seeds (your invitations) may or may not grow into anything or they may be the key turning point in a person's faith journey. Leave that up to God and the power of the Holy Spirit.

  • How should I invite them?
Just ask. It’s really that simple. Don’t let the fear of rejection get in the way. Ask them if they are planning to go to Mass. If not, tell them where and when they can go. Send them a reminder later by email or text if they were interested. If they take you up on the invitation, offer to go with them to Mass. This will help remove any feelings of fear or uncertainty they might have about going to church.

If you join this group, we will send you scripts and specific ways to extend invitations.

  • What if they are already planning to go to Easter Mass?

Tell them about this group. Invite them to invite others to Easter masses. Tell them to go to easterevangelist.com to learn more. The only way we will reach our goal is if you invite someone to invite others.

In addition, you can invite them to go to further in their preparation for Easter. Invite them to go to confession with you. During this Year of Mercy there will be lots of opportunities to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Lent.
  • What if they are not Catholic?
Ask them if they plan to go to a service in their own tradition. If not, invite them to come to Mass. You never know what kind of grace God may work through that invitation.
  • What will I get if I sign up as an Easter Evangelist?
Inviting someone to Easter Mass is simple but not always easy. By joining the Easter Evangelist email list, you will get scripts and prompts to help you extend your invitations. You will receive stories and advice to help you become better at evangelization. Most importantly, you will be a part of a large community of fellow Christians committed to a common goal: spreading the joy of the Gospel this Lent and Easter season.
  • Who is organizing this event?
An author named Jared Dees. Jared wrote a book titled To Heal, Proclaim, and Teach as a guide to ministry and evangelization in the modern world. One of the lessons in the book is to always have something to invite people to, or what he calls an “inviteable event.” He was inspired to start Easter Evangelist as a way to practice what he preaches.
